Welcome to SmokeFreeColorado.org

In 2006, Colorado’s Clean Indoor Air Act went into effect, limiting smoking in many work and public places – including restaurants and bars. Since then, we’ve come a long way in protecting the health of people statewide. Millions of Coloradans are now free from the dangers of tobacco smoke at work. And today over 100,000 fewer people smoke cigarettes.

Unfortunately, there’s still more to do. Too many Coloradans are still exposed to the dangers of tobacco smoke where they live, learn, work and play. And the fact is that the U.S. Surgeon General says there is NO safe level of exposure to tobacco smoke. Period.

Current CIAA exemptions are bad for workers, businesses, the public, and Colorado as a whole. But most of all, they are bad for you and your family. Get the whole story on secondhand smoke.

25 feet is the closest you should be to someone who is smoking to avoid inhaling  cancer-causing toxins.

According to the CCIAA, 15 feet is the legal distance that must separate smokers from a public place.
